FACTS & FIGURES ABOUT THE REFUGE AND WHY WE NEED TO RAISE FUNDS

Many people have asked us how much does it actually cost to run the GPAR refuge and I know when we took over the fund raising, this was something we felt we also wanted to know.
So we have put together some information for you as we feel as supporters of GPAR it would be nice for you to know how your money is used!

The charity, which was started in 2008 is totally self financing. All the Spanish volunteers working at the refuge are fully employed elsewhere and run the refuge entirely in their spare time. They are an amazing team and we must not forget them when we are trying to understand what GPAR is all about, and also when we are enjoying the fun side or our fund raising

It is very demanding work for them as on average there are about 60 dogs in the refuge at any one time. Every dog that enters the refuge is fully vaccinated, wormed and treated for infestations and all dogs that re -homed are neutered.

So the annual costs of feeding and keeping the dogs is huge. We have recently been given an idea of what the average cost is per annum and we would like to share this with you so you can see how important it is for you to continue to support us and help us raise as much money as we can.

As an example - the average costs are as follows. These figures are based on 2014

It costs 5-6€ on average to feed one dog for a month
To sterilise a dog it costs : Males 50€ Females 90-100€

Approx cost to run the refuge per year

The Vets, average of 1.000€ per month, so 12.000
Dry food, average 500€ per month, so 6.000
For cleaning and repairing, 100€ per month, so 1.200
Other expensive and incidentals, 100 per month, so 1.200

AVERAGE ANNUAL TOTAL…20000€

Listed below are the sources of GPAR’s funds

1) Our market stalls, concerts, other events and fund raising projects. Internet Sales and Sponsor a dog scheme, Collection tins.
2) General donations via the GPAR website
3) GPAR adoption/re-homing scheme
4) GPAR friends and sponsors from England, France, Switzerland and Sweden some of whom have set up a monthly or annually direct debit to the charity

So as you can see - it is imperative for us to continue to raise as much money as possible and your support is extremely important.

One way that everyone can help without too much effort or cost to themselves, is to participate in the Easysearch and Easyfunding scheme which raises money for GPAR every time you shop online or search the Internet. This is such and easy way for everyone to help us.

GPAR wouldn’t be able to survive without your continual support and we would like to thank everyone for everything they do - however big or small - because as we always say - Every little helps!
